You Know We Can Get Away

Amazingly another month of 2014 has past us by, I have been in a strange dissertation and University work paradigm for the last month and I am sure the next few weeks hold much of the same. It is no excuse for not writing, but I am sure in the coming months there will be a lot more excitement. Anyway: with a dissertation comes endless hours of Library time and study playlists, so here are 5 of my favourites from the last 4 weeks.

Active Child - Hangin On - Introduced to me recently by a friend, I fell instantly in love. I have listened to this track so many times, I find it to be the perfect break in studying and relaxing. In fact this entire album is such a beautiful piece and well worth giving it a listen through from first track right through to the last.

Coasts - Oceans - A really easy sing along summery track, they are full of catchy lyrics.

Blood Red Shoes - I was gutted that I missed them playing at Concorde this month in Btown, but I have seen them live before...so that makes it okay right? Such a brilliant duo, and they make just there being the two of them so worth the listen!

Breed 77 - Zombie - I have had a phase of listening to a lot of covers recently, mostly because the music used for the adverts I am analysing in my dissertation are covers of popular songs. When this track was first presented to me I just said 'no, it can't be good'. I love the original track by the Cranberries, but this is a real great spin on it.

Cat Power - Ruin - Just casually browsing through the gig listings in Brighton and seeing this ladies name, I was so excited. I haven't listened for a while and was ecstatic to find out that there was an album I hadn't even heard before. She has such an incredible writing style and he sound is so different and personal.
