So I told myself that I would go to more gigs this year and so far it is going well. It is a lot cheaper and a hell of a lot more healthier way of spending my second year of university, rather than the drunken student I was most weekend (and a fair few week days) last year.
So my most recent live music experience was that of Canadian Indie band Half Moon Run. Unfortunately the images I got weren't amazing, I need to start playing around with my camera more, but the band smashed it. They played at The Haunt in Brighton which is ever more becoming one of my favourite gig venues, let alone club venue. The group were pretty awesome live, although they had a slight cocky energy to them, what with their current single having a fair amount of Radio 1 airplay, they were fun to watch. A drummer slash keyboardist, the vocalist having his own drum, everyone appeared to be doing more than what they had to and the sound was delightful. They were even brought back on stage for an encore in which they performed a beautiful acoustic piece without microphones which left the audience stunned. I am expecting big things from this band, they are beyond catchy, the lyrics are good and the harmonies are great; I can't wait for the album to be released in the UK later this year.
Although I wasn't around for the first support act the second support act (in the first image) were rather interesting. They were quite funny to watch with their catchy drums and guitar, but what did make me laugh a little was that the girl, on the left there, was knelt on the floor for most of the set because they obviously didn't have a keyboard stand. I mean, maybe she just likes playing keyboard on the floor I don't know, but they were a nice local band warming up the stage.
I leave you with links to both bands facebook pages, if you like indie/pop/rock then give both bands a listen.
